The English language has many words, far more than it can possibly need, you might think.   Never mind.   The things that will appear here are literary doodles or musings on various things and they are squeaking out pitifully for a name.   Lacking sufficient knowledge of latin to come up with something posh (which would probably anyway turn out to belong already to a spiky and unpopular flower), and without the inclination to search vast tomes of literature for stolen inspiration,  I hereby name this section Moodles.   Good luck to all who sail in her.  Condensing "musings" and "doodles" in such a way may raise the hackles of literary purists, but if you're one of those, I politely suggest that you buzz off.   You won't like what's in here anyway.
I've been writing bits and pieces for years and below are some extracts, with the dates.   Hopefully I'll get around to writing up-to-date stuff soon, but for those who sorely need rubbish to read, this will make you look productive and busy for whole seconds at a time.

Written one afternoon while teaching a physics practical class in the Cavendish Laboratory
 (6th March 2007)

In the first year physics practical,
One Tuesday afternoon,
The students measure data points
As I gaze round the room.

I first came here nine years ago,
Same stools, same bench, same lab.
Since then I've finished three degrees
Now I'm PhD (Cantab).

I can't remember who taught me.
I wonder who taught them.
The knowledge passes down the chain,
For ever and ever, Amen.
