In the summer of 2018, Helen spent two months on an icebreaker close to the North Pole, one of forty researchers on a huge expedition to study Arctic weather and oceanography. The High Arctic still holds many mysteries for scientists, because it’s so hard to reach and such a challenging environment to work in. Helen will discuss how science gets done on the ice, what she found, why it matters, and the future of the Arctic region. There will be stories of ice and bears and ships, and the science that made it all worthwhile…
