As particle physicists from across Europe prepare to gather to chart the future of their field, join scientists from CERN to hear about the most ambitious new idea on the table – a gigantic particle collider that would eclipse the world's current biggest scientific instrument, the Large Hadron Collider. The 'Future Circular Collider' (FCC) is a plan for a 100km ring-shaped particle accelerator buried underground near Geneva.
The speakers are Professor John Womersley and Dr Harry Cliff, and the discussion will be chaired by Dr Helen Czerski.
The venue is The Theatre, at the Royal Institution, London, and the event starts at 7pm.
